Personal life of Ruskin Bond | Ruskin Bond Biography
Ruskin Bond was born in Kasauli, British India, to Edith Clarke and Aubrey Alexander Bond. His father taught English to the princesses of Jamnagar Palace. Bond and his sister Ellen lived there until they were six years old. His father enlisted in the Royal Air Force in his 1939, and Bond moved with his mother and his sister to his childhood home in Dehradun.
Soon after, he was sent to a boarding school in Mussoorie. When Bond was eight years old, his parents separated and his mother married Hari, a Punjabi Hindu. When his father was posted to New Delhi, he arranged for Ruskin to live with him. Bond became close to his father and his stay with him was one of the happiest times of his life. He said it was one. Bond attended the Bishop Cotton School in Shimla, graduating in 1951. During her time at school, she won several writing competitions and awards, including the Haley Prize for Literature and the Irwin Theology Prize.

Career
Ruskin Bond wrote his one of her first short stories, The Untouchables, when she was 16. After his high school graduation, he went to live with his aunt in the Channel Islands (UK) in search of better prospects, where he lived for two years. At the age of 17, he began writing his first novel, The Room on
the Roof, in London. Looking for a publisher, he worked in a photo studio. After publishing his book, he used the advance money to pay for his travel to Bombay and settled in Dehradun. He worked freelance for several years. Bond wrote short stories and poems for magazines and newspapers for a living. In 1963 he moved to Mussoorie because he liked the place and especially because it was close to editors and publishers in Delhi – Ruskin Bond Biography.
Penguin formed in India in his 1980s and commissioned Bond to write. In 1956, he wrote The Wanderer’s Valley as a sequel to his first novel. In 1993 Penguin published both books in one volume. Later that year Penguin published several of his non-fiction books in The Best of Ruskin Bond. Some of

Ruskin Bond’s novel Flight of the Pigeons was adapted into the 1978 Bollywood film Junoon. The film was directed by Shyam Bengal and produced by Shashi Kapoor. All of Bond’s stories about the semi- autobiographical fictional character Rusty were adapted into Ek Tha Rusty as Doordarshan’s television his series. Several Bond stories are included in the school curriculum, including Shamuri’s Time Stop, Deori’s Night Train, and Dehera’s Our Tree Still Growing. Director Vishal Bhardwaj adapted the popular children’s novel The Blue Umbrella in 2005. The film won the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film. In 2011, he appeared in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf.
